If you are between 9-14 weeks, a full bladder will provide optimal imaging of baby. It is recommended you drink 24 oz of water 1 hour before your appointment. Staying hydrated during pregnancy will increase baby's amniotic fluid levels and create optimal imaging. If you are more than 15 weeks pregnant you do not need a full bladder for the ultrasound but staying hydrated a few days prior will make your scan that much better!
Usually you will but there are some factors that can interfere with getting the perfect image. These include the position of the baby, low amniotic fluid, location of the placenta, obesity of the mother, and fibroids. The best possible pictures of baby will always try to be obtained but just be aware these factors can affect image quality!
